The last couple of days have been nice – hot and sunny with just the normal amount of wind.
Yesterday we went to Brownie’s CafĂ© for breakfast then to Time Warner to return the internet modem, there were quite a few people waiting at Time Warner so I got a number and a spot in the waiting room and John went and got diesel. I probably had to wait about half an hour and John was back before I got waited on but fortunately it wasn’t too long after he got there that we got looked after. From there it was to Fry’s and Wal Mart for groceries, then bring them home and put them away, then back out for haircuts and another trip to the RV store as there was a squeegie that John wanted to get. After all that I sat out and read for the rest of the afternoon.
Today was getting ready to roll day, after sitting for four months there are lots of things to put away and John was worried about fitting everything into the back of the truck but couldn’t really start until he could get the barbecue put away and the satellite dish. It took him all day to get the truck loaded, check all the tires etc. but he did get it done.
Meanwhile, I got everything inside organized and stowed and cleaned out the fridge and got everything on the shelves into baskets so it doesn’t move around when traveling. I also vacuumed, dusted etc. so it is clean again. I think we are now ready to hook up and head out in the morning.
Tonight we went to Da Boyz for pizza with Steve & Brenda, they were supposed to pick us up at 6 and John finished up and headed into the shower at 5:50, talk about a rush. I had called and left a message asking them to wait until about 6:15 so when they pulled up at 6:10 I thought they had got my message but that wasn’t the case, fortunately they were just running late also. At least John was ready when they got here, sure wish I could shower, dress etc that fast!!! We had a good dinner and visit, now it is a little bit of TV and then off to bed.
I don’t know when we will have internet again but will post when I can. The plan is for tomorrow night in Benson and Monday night in Alamogordo, then across Texas to Louisiana, sure hope we don’t run into any bad storms on the way!
As always, the last two days have been great gifts here in the sunny south and we look forward to another good day tomorrow.

Wow, almost the end of March, just over a month and we will be back in Ontario so we sure hope the weather is nice and warm when we get back – hah, hah.
Yesterday was a very uneventful day, it was hot and sunny and for some reason both John and I were absolutely listless all day. John did wash most of the trailer in the morning then we spent the afternoon reading and napping and most of the evening was the same, don’t know what was wrong with us but we sure didn’t have any get up and go.
John and Irma left yesterday morning then in the afternoon we got a honking big motor home come in on our curbside so our feeling of openess didn’t last long! Thankfully the spots here are large so we don’t feel cramped, just can’t see down the road! Of course with this whole large park and so many empty spots they have to pick the one beside us to put someone!
Today was another nice day and we both felt much more energetic, thank goodness. We did one last run to the market as there were a couple of things John wanted and I picked up a few books to read on the way home and we went to RV Connection to get some spare filters for our R O water system.
When we got back we checked out the laundromat but it was quite busy so I decided to wait until about 3:30 and try it then and thankfully it was quiet by then – by the time my clothes had washed I had the place to myself. I sat outside and read while it was doing so it was quite pleasant. When I was leaving I noticed something at the pool and realized it was a cat hanging over the edge drinking the water, I didn’t think the chlorine would be all that healthy for it so shooed it away.
For most of this week there have been hundreds of monarch butterflies flying around, apparently this is a regular occurrence here every year but it is the first time we have seen it. There are hundreds of them in the mornings then only a few in the afternoon, quite strange but pretty. The trees here, I think they are fiscus, are just starting to come out in bloom and the butterflies seem to like them as they keep landing in the trees then taking off. It is impossible to take a picture of them as they move so fast and when they are in the trees they don’t show up well enough for a picture.
Tomorrow we are taking back our internet modem so will be back on the park system until we leave, hopefully now that the park isn’t so full it won’t be too bad but we will miss the roadrunner.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day, John went out in the morning looking for some odds and ends and I took the opportunity to do a major cleaning to get all the dirt out of the trailer after Sunday’s big blow, not a fun time but it had to be done.
I had ordered a blue tooth headset for my phone last week and it arrived today so I spent some time trying to get it set up. We talked to Mike and it worked really good but then I tried calling Kel and it wasn’t so good, I could hardly hear them and they said the same with me so guess I have to figure out what the problem is.
The weather was much cooler than it has been, I was back in capris and we used our new heater last night and it felt good.
Today was a nice day and it is warming up again, we did have some more wind today but thankfully nothing like on Sunday.
John & Irma asked us to go to Brown Bag Burger with them for lunch so of course they didn’t have to twist our arm and as always it was really good and a lot cheaper than Burgers & Beer. John & Irma are leaving tomorrow morning so are pretty well all set to go. Irma had her phone with her at lunch so tried calling me so I could use my blue tooth and I think I now have it figured out, sure hope so!
When we got back John started trying to clean out and organize the back of the truck but came to the conclusion that most of it will have to wait until Saturday – it should be interesting to see how we get everything loaded in.
We ended up chatting with the neighbours, reading, doing some computering, going for a bike ride and walk etc. this afternoon so another day has gone by in this life of retirement – real tough!

Yesterday was another hot, sunny day. I did some cleaning in the morning then in the afternoon we went to the market, Fry’s and Wal Mart and by the time we got back it was too late for the pool. The gnats were most annoying to try to sit outside late in the afternoon so we resorted to coming and turning on the a/c, not what we really like to do but at least we were cool and bug free. Fortunately it cools off enough in the evening and gets quite pleasant so we didn’t have to run the a/c for too long. We didn’t get home in time for me to go for my swim, kind of missed that.
Last night on the weather they forecast strong winds for today so John put up the awning last night so if the wind did come up during the night he wouldn’t have to worry about it. Turns out it didn’t come up till this morning, but boy has it blown all day, I can’t remember it being this bad here before.
Brenda stopped by about 11 to see if we wanted to go to Burgers & Beer for dinner tonight – sounded good to us. She was heading to Wal Mart when she stopped so asked if I wanted to go so I ended up going with her. When I got back I couldn’t believe the dirt in the trailer, I had left the roadside windows open on the first notch and everything was covered in dirt and dust so first on the agenda was to clean that up. When we left the park it was like driving in a snow storm but instead of snow it was dust – not nice, I sure wouldn’t have wanted to be out on the highway today.
Around 2 we headed over to the market as John had bought light bulbs yesterday and they were the wrong size and I had bought a couple of tops and they were too big so we wanted to go back and do some exchanges. Just walking from the truck to the market I was eating dirt, not pretty. When we got home we both read until it was time to go out for dinner.
Burgers & Beer was good but pricey, however, it was a nice time with good company. Tonight will be a quiet evening of reading or watching TV, right now John is watching the second part of The Godfather so I know I will be reading for a while at least.
