Thursday – February 16 – John and I decided to drive to Wellton today to check out RV parks there, what a waste of time. There was one that looked not too bad but it was right on the interstate and directly behind it were the railway tracks, gets a five star in our books for noise. The others in the area were mostly permanent trailers with a few travel ones stuck in here and there.

We then came back and fought the crowds at Fry’s for groceries. Tonight was the Shriners barbecue dinner – hamburgs, etc. so decided to go and see what it was like. The burgers were very well done, don’t think we will bother with another one but at least the guys didn’t have to cook and Janet and I didn’t have to worry about what else to make. Went for a long walk after dinner and then had a quiet evening. We watched some of the Olympics and the snowboarding blows me away, but it is great to watch.
Wednesday – February 15 – Janet and I went down for the water aerobics again and got another good workout and there were even more people there today. They are going to have to start doing a couple of sessions if the numbers keep increasing.

After lunch we drove down into California, now we can say we have been to California! We then went to Cocopah which is a RV Park with a real nice golf course and checked it out. John finally bought a new pair of golf shoes, which he sorely needed and Dave bought a new putter. You can only make tee times 3 days in advance so Dave is going to call first thing tomorrow morning and see if he can get a time for Sunday. Their twilight rate (which starts at 1 p.m.) if $15 for as many holes as you can play so it is a really good deal.

After that we went to a couple of stores, then went and walked around Yuma's historical district. It is basically the old downtown where the road has been closed and made into a mall. We didn't get there till about 4:30 and most of the stores had closed but one was open and we went through and it had a lot of crafts, etc. but very expensive. We came back and had a quiet evening, watched some TV and vegged.
Tuesday – February 14 – Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Today we played another game of golf and it was much better than the other day so maybe all is not lost. We stopped at the grocery store and checked out another golf course on the way home, then came back and had a bit of a quiet time. Janet and Dave came down for dinner and we had a few more games of euchre.

Monday – February 13 – This morning Janet and I went to water aerobics at 10 and it was a good workout and lots of people there. I did some cleaning and laundry and John and Dave went into Yuma to Best Buy. Went down to Janet & Dave’s for dinner, then played euchre. It was quite a quiet, relaxing day.
Sunday – February 12 – Well, what a day, the weather was beautiful so we headed to Quartzsite about 9:45 a.m. It was about 1-1/2 hour drive and there was some interesting scenery. There were lots of interesting looking mountain formations and we saw lots of areas where people were boondocking (dry camping), but not as many as we thought. We got Quartzsite and found a parking spot which happened to be across from Beaudry RV so we went over to check out their RV’s. After wandering around for quite a while we noticed a large tent where they were serving food, it turned out the food was free and they had hamburgs with all the fixings, baked beans, potato chips, cookies (absolutely to die for!) and tea, coffee, etc. All of it was very good!

Now that we had sustenance, we headed for the shopping. What a variety of wares, some junk, some nice stuff, but we wandered around for about 4 hours. I got a hat, which I have been trying to find for ages, a really neat wind spinner with hummingbirds and John bought me a couple of pairs of really nice earrings for Valentine’s Day. A lot of the vendors were packing up for the season so we lucked out and got most of the stuff on sale. We were really glad that we went today as I think that by next weekend there will be a lot less vendors. We didn’t see half of the stuff, I think it would take a couple of days to cover it all.

On the way back the sun was going down and was really nice on the mountains so hopefully John got a couple of good pictures (we haven’t had time to download them yet). We were all wiped when we got back so this is a quiet evening.
Saturday – February 11 – Today was busy but a fun day. Janet and I hit a couple of garage sales – what a waste of time. We came back and got ready to go golfing and had a good game (well, the three of them did but my game was terrible!). We went to a par 3 course at another trailer park and it was a really nice course and there were lots of birds around, a large egret and lots of road runners and a couple other types of bird, and of course, guess who forgot their camera!

We came back from golfing and went down for a swim and the pool was beautiful and warm and there was only one other lady in it so pretty well had it to ourselves. It felt good after the golf to just let the water relax us. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner then on to Wal Mart to do some shopping, so all in all quite a busy day. Now it’s off to bed to get rested up for tomorrow.
